Some voicings take up less than an octave; some take up 2 octaves or more. A voicing that takes up less than an octave is a closed voicing. All the notes should be one after another. Take a closed voicing, take one of the notes and move only that note up an octave, now you have an open voicing. This chapter presents a way to study open closed voicings of every chord type imaginable. Studying this will help you play great and interesting voicings as well as move them around with ease from chord to chord.
